for my theme, I was going for a green nature anime type of vibe. I really love the art style of Japanese animations, so I wanted to incorporate some panels/pictures of movies and shows that I enjoy. My favorite Studio Ghibli film is When Marnie Was There; I used a scene from this movie for my cover photo. For my profile photo I decided to use Violet Evergarden typing on her typewriter, as a symbol for my writing blog. I like how my blog’s aesthetic contradicts my aesthetic as a person, regarding clothing etc. My style is more dark and grunge, whereas this is bright and cozy, which I find beautiful.

week 1

During the first week of my Traditional Japanese History course, we were introduced to early Japan, a country made up of four islands located in East Asia, and it’s geographical components. Surrounded by water and on top of four tectonic plates, Japan is prone to weather disasters that affect the country and climate as a whole. Japan has to continually adapt to it’s climate and topography for specific agriculture and ways of living. This affects agriculture and habitat. Japan was influenced by China’s rice fields and created vertical high-tech farms, which I found so innovative and impressive, which was an adjustment to how Japan is primarily made up of mountains.

when in doubt, have a cat mindset

Don’t echo negative thoughts inside your head.

two fluffy white cats with dark gray-ish ears and faces. Laying belly side up, one cat has a bowl on its head and the other is laying back side up next to it. Both I presume are on a blue leather couch.
Growth Mindset Cat

This cat image is the best. I now aspire to be a cat with a bowl on its head, deflecting negative thoughts that try to echo over and over in its head. I like how this mindset acknowledges that there are indeed negative thoughts that can be hard to stop thinking about, but that there is always a way to stop them from ‘echoing’ in your thoughts. I will now use this as an affirmation to reassure me that repetitive negative thoughts will eventually go away.
