week 1

During the first week of my Traditional Japanese History course, we were introduced to early Japan, a country made up of four islands located in East Asia, and it’s geographical components. Surrounded by water and on top of four tectonic plates, Japan is prone to weather disasters that affect the country and climate as a whole. Japan has to continually adapt to it’s climate and topography for specific agriculture and ways of living. This affects agriculture and habitat. Japan was influenced by China’s rice fields and created vertical high-tech farms, which I found so innovative and impressive, which was an adjustment to how Japan is primarily made up of mountains.
